ASSESSMENT MODELS OF THE LEVEL OF INTERNATIONALIZATION OF HIGHER EDUCATION
Abstract
Relevance: the need to assess the level of internationalization of higher education is due to the importance of this direction for the development of universities and the system of higher education, increasing its competitiveness, and the need for constant justified improvement of these processes and the leveling of associated risks.
Purpose: research and systematization of various models for assessing the level of internationalization of higher education, which will allow choosing the most appropriate one for the audit of this process and its results in domestic institutions.
Methods: synergistic approach, monographic analysis, generalization, comparative analysis; comparative analysis, comprehensive approach, specification method.
Results: the peculiarities of the model for assessing the level of internationalization of higher education, which are used in different countries of the world, were investigated and the complex nature of their construction was established; it was noted that the main elements in their structure are a set of indices and sub-indices that characterize the effectiveness of the international exchange of students and teachers, the quality of educational services and research activities, international cooperation; attention is focused on the need to adjust assessment models by expanding the list of indicators and adapting it to the relevant situation; a list of indicators is proposed to supplement models for assessing the level of internationalization of higher education used in domestic institutions.
Conclusions: addition of existing models for assessing the level of internationalization of higher education with such indicators as: compliance of the internationalization of the university with the geopolitical interests of the country; the potential of the institution of higher education and the availability of effective tools of influence on the simplification of migration policy; the organization of extracurricular life at the institution and the level of involvement of students in it; mechanisms for informing applicants, including the availability of a convenient website; cultural aspects and others, which will allow to adapt them to the relevant situation, take into account the existing challenges and problems in this area, will contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the institution in the market of educational services.
