Forming intercultural competence in students of IT-specialties: contemporary approach

Abstract

The article emphasizes the necessity of solving the problem of developing intercultural competence in future specialists in the field of Computer Sciences in higher educational institutions. According to the results of foreign experience observations that in order to identify and implement relevant innovations in the IT students’ training it was found that this issue is critically important for project management, where most graduates with IT specialization work. These findings are important to identify and implement relevant innovations in the IT students’ training. It is precisely the lack of orientation in the intercultural environment and the lack of grounds for awareness of its own cultural background, that is such a system of knowledge that makes it possible to understand their own strategies of communication and that of their communication partner that results in majour failures of international IT projects. The analysis of foreign best practices shows the need to integrate a multicultural component into the professional training of IT specialists. The role and significance of such educational disciplines as "English" and "English for Specific Purposes" in the development of intercultural competence has been revealed. The author analyzes different views of internal and foreign scientists on the structure and content of intercultural competence, methodological approaches, mechanisms and technologies of its phased formation.
