The problem-based learning in the training of air traffic controllers
Abstract
The article analyses the scientific achievements of theory and practice of problem-based learning in the professional training of air traffic controllers. The relevance of this topic is based upon the insufficient adaptation and development of some provisions of problem-based learning regarding the training of future air traffic controllers as professionals in operators’ field. The psychological basis of problem-based learning is considered and the factors that affect the complexity of the problem are described. The structure of the organization of problem-based learning in the process of aviation specialists’ theoretical training is presented. A group of methods of professional training and learning of aviation specialists is described. Some professionally oriented disciplines that ensure the quality of professional tasks in the maintenance of air traffic and which are the part of professional training system of air traffic controllers with components of theoretical (pre simulator training) and simulator training, are considered. On the basis of this, it was determined that the scientific achievements in problem-based learning are not being sufficiently used
at present, and require improvement. There are four levels of scientific achievements of students in theprocess of solving problem situations: low, medium, sufficient and high. We submit such components of problem situations as: conditions of a problem situation, a problem, problem solving, criteria for decisions evaluating. The preferences of the problem-based learning are emphasized as opportunities for developing the professionally important qualities of future air traffic controllers, such as: attention, memory, observation, activation of thinking, enhancing cognitive activity...
