Transformation of the students’ values system in the context of domestic vocational education and training reforming

Abstract

The reference point of the VET system modernization, what kind of human personality should be as the highest value of the state and the main engine of renewing its production relations are defined based    on the axiological approach to studying the vocational pedagogy phenomena. The “labour” phenomenon transformation in the system of Ukrainians’ inner values are characterised. The most visible transformational changes in the modern Ukrainian youth’s  values system are illustrated  statistically;  they are reflected in the youth understanding of education prestige, professionalism and professional success. The main factors of VET transformation that influenced the change of Ukrainian youth values are defined, among them: world globalisation processes, education legislation, state of the economy and the education system state. The urgent tasks of the domestic education system, aimed at stabilizing the modern Ukrainian youth’s values system, are presented: overcoming the role imbalance between vocational and higher education, strengthening equal partnership and ensuring their equal contribution to the country’s economic security, which needs both competent researchers and highly skilled workers; establishing effective mechanisms for ensuring the continuity of all levels of education (secondary, vocational and higher), organising effective professional orientation of youth at all levels of professional self-determination; improving the VET content and ensuring its quality in accordance with the New Ukrainian School tasks, society and economy queries; developing public-private partnership that can increase the motivation of all stakeholders, which are interested in improving the VET quality; improving  the forms and mechanisms  of employers’ motivation to organize various typed of training.
