Formation of definitions «professional career» and «career consulting» in a context of concerning young students’ professional self- determination
Abstract
A human always faces problems connected with determining his attitude to professions, analysis and reflection of the own professional progress, correction in professional plans, taking decisions about choosing or changing a profession, solving other professionally specified questions that cover the notion «professional self-determination». Efficient solution of the aforementioned problems assumes creation of a system for psycho-pedagogical support as to the professional self-determination process. In developed countries this assistance finds itself in a framework of measures system which is characterized as «career consulting». Nowadays career consulting can be defined as a system of psycho-pedagogical activity directed at cultivating in a young person adaptation abilities and skills that enable him to efficiently use his personal and professional potential taking into account competition at a labor market. Definitions «professional career» and «career consulting» are considerably new for our native pedagogy. At the same time comparative analysis of the notions «professional career» and «professional self-determination» makes consider them to be similar as their basis is made up of a person’s «self-concept» advance. Thus we believe that a means for preparing young students to professional self-determination is considered to be not a professional orientation but a broader complex of psycho-pedagogical measures that in foreign pedagogy are defined as «career consulting».
