Career development competence of future engineers mechanics: experimental model

Abstract

The article discusses the development of the career competence of the future mechanical engineers. A model of this process, the components of career competencies are identified. Criteria and indicators are obtained to diagnose the level of formation of competence of the future career of Mechanical Engineers.

Career competence is represented by a set of competencies required to solve complex problems. It enables a skilled person to put priorities and define their own career achievements, and then calculate the possibilities and time to make a career leap that takes it to a new, higher level of professional formation and development.

Developing professional competence, specialists, at the same time, develop their career  competency. It is fixed as the integral characteristics of the person and manifests itself in a person's ability to understand clearly his own career potential, his incompetence, effectively enriching his experience to build a career path, develop personal competencies, to make changes in professional and career values.

We have created a model for the competence development of the future career of Mechanical Engineers (Fig. 1). It includes target, informative, technological, diagnostic blocks. Turget unit reflects the requirements of the Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education" concerning the formation of professional competence of future professionals, their focus on professional development throughout the life; targets of the participants in the educational process; methodological approaches (competence, motivation and the activity and the subject-activity, student-centered, systemic, social and synergistic, akmeologo-praksiologichny), components (motivational and evaluative, cognitive procedure, the subject-activity, reflective-evaluative) and didactic principles.
