Plagiarism Policy

1. General Principles

The Editorial Board of the "Professional Pedagogics" journal stands for high quality and original research. We adhere to the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines and the Law of Ukraine "On Academic Integrity" to ensure transparency and ethical publishing practices.

2. Definition of Plagiarism

For the purposes of this policy, plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Direct Plagiarism: The publication (full or partial) of another's work under the name of a person who is not the actual author.

  • Self-plagiarism: Re-publishing significant parts of one’s own previously published scientific work without proper citation or disclosure.

  • Textual Plagiarism: Copying text fragments (modified or verbatim) from articles, reports, books, or manuscripts without appropriate attribution.

  • Idea Plagiarism: Using another's unique ideas, theories, or methods without providing due credit to the source.

  • Translation Plagiarism: Presenting a translated version of a work originally published in another language as one's own original contribution.

3. Characteristics of Misconduct

The journal considers the following actions as clear violations of academic integrity:

  1. Submitting someone else’s work as your own.

  2. Copying words or ideas without clear referencing.

  3. Intentional omission of sources from the reference list or providing inaccurate source data (e.g., "broken" or misleading links).

  4. Paraphrasing by changing word order while maintaining the overall structure and meaning of the original sentences without citation.

  5. Re-using large sections of text or data that constitute the majority of a "new" article.

4. Plagiarism Screening Procedure

To ensure the integrity of the scholarly record, the journal implements the following workflow:

  1. Mandatory Check: All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo a mandatory uniqueness check using the StrikePlagiarism service at the initial screening stage.

  2. Uniqueness Threshold: The journal requires a minimum of 85% uniqueness for the author's original text. If the similarity report indicates a score below this threshold, the manuscript is rejected immediately.

  3. Author Responsibility: Authors are solely responsible for the accuracy of citations, names, data, and the overall originality of their submission.

  4. Legal Consequences: In cases where plagiarism is confirmed, authors bear responsibility according to the Law of Ukraine "On Copyright and Related Rights" and other applicable legislation regarding academic integrity.
