Vocational training and professional development of workers at manufacturing site

Abstract

The article keeps focus on conditions of unstable market economy where organizational and economic aspects of workers on-the-job training acquire great significance. In conditions of obsolete knowledge, skills and values, enterprise’s capacity to constantly raise professional rate of its staff is one of the most important factors to be competitive at market and also to renovate and increase its production volumes. However, economic crises of the years 1990- 1999 and 2008-2009 in Ukraine negatively resulted in quantitative and qualitative indicators concerning on-the-job retraining and workers’ professional development.

It is clarified according to what conditions it is reasonable to carry out workers re-qualification in the form of course and individual training. Peculiarities of curriculum development for re- qualifying the workers by enterprises on basis of typical programs for workers training according to proper professions using in particular module training system are revealed. Constituents of workers on-the-job retraining management process, procedures as to working out yearly and monthly plans of workers re-qualification are determined. The essence of workers’ professional development, difference of this training form from initial workers training, advantages of professional development over initial training and retraining are proved. It is shown that on-the- job professional development of workers is fulfilled according to the following forms: industrial engineering courses, internship, purpose-oriented courses and integrated occupations ones, schools of advanced ways and work methods, team leader courses, quality teams and groups, other forms of professional development determined by an organization. A system of indicators that characterize efficiency of on-the-job workers’ professional development is worked out. Development and implementation of efficient organizational and economic mechanism for motivating the workers to improve their knowledge, skills and values are offered.
